MENTAL HEALTH RESOURCES

You are not alone with whatever battle is happening inside your head.

Through writing Fade to White and my next novel, I have had the privilege of connecting with a number of amazing community-based and nationally-recognized organizations.

This list is not exhaustive, but will hopefully offer a starting point if you are in need of help.

If you are experiencing a mental health-related crisis, please visit your local hospital, call 911 or call one of these crisis lines:

In Canada:

National - kidshelpphone.ca - 1-800-668-6868

Ontario -  ConnexOntario  1-866-531-2600

                - Telehealth Ontario at 1-866-797-0000

 In America:

suicidepreventionlifeline.org - 1-800-273-8255

(Let me know other lines I should add American friends!)

Additional organizations that support Mental Health and Suicide Awareness:

In Canada:

Game Changers- Through CAMH (The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health) - a mental health program designed to help young Canadians feel more comfortable talking about health, mental health, seeking help and supporting friends.

The Canadian Mental Health Association - resources, links and information around mental health for all.

lifeteams.ca – A ministry Youth Unlimited that provides resources and tip-sheets for engaging with vulnerable youth around mental health and faith.

In America:

childmind.org - The Child Mind Institute is an independent, national nonprofit dedicated to transforming the lives of children and families struggling with mental health and learning disorders.

projectreasons.org - A teen run organization that seeks to bridge the gap that is sometimes present between teens and adults by mobilizing teens to participate in conjunction with adults in the delivery of their chosen suicide prevention program.

If you know of excellent organizations doing work to support teens and/or mental health awareness, please let me know and I'll update this list.

A portion of the proceeds from Fade to White will be donated back to mental health organizations.
